OVERVIEW
The design, manufacture and supply of complete 40 metre long stacker complete with 5 metre extending stinger with all ancillaries and auxiliary equipment includes: Belt width of 1200mm and belt speed of 3,9m/sec
The structure was constructed in SABS 1431 300 WA (BS4360 GR43A) material. The structural design was checked by means of Finite Element Design Analysis to ensure no extreme stress situations occur. In designing, care was taken with regard to the extremely arduous operating conditions, not only in conveying but in being handled on the ground. A wing conveyor feeds the tail end of the stacker.
An access platform runs along one side of the stacker for its full length. The feed chute is fitted with skirts and VRN500 liners and is so designed to minimise the hang up of material and maximum volumetric capacity is achieved in the chute. The stinger conveyor extends and retracts 5 metres beyond the stacker head by means of a hydraulic cylinder, under the main conveyor so that the main conveyor can discharge directly if the stinger is incapacitated.
Slewing of the stacker is carried out by four hydraulically powered wheels slewing about the tail pivot. The hydraulic cylinder for extension and retraction of the stinger conveyor has a 5- metre travel and produces a force in each direction to a maximum of 10 ton.
Speeds are: Extension 45mm / second and retraction 90mm / second. The slew wheels are lifted vertically when towing up the pad.
