OVERVIEW
The block cave is situated 630m underground and is one of the largest in the world. A specially designed 85m³ concrete reception bin fitted with 50mm liners was provided to receive the 1.9m diameter diamond ore via specially designed remote controlled 50t capacity trucks, which operate in high speed tramming loops.
The ore is withdrawn from the bin via hydraulically operated apron feeders feeding the 2000 tph gyratory crusher. The 170mm crushed ore is transferred via a secondary apron feeder to a conveyor system feeding the existing main shaft conveyors.
SENET's scope included all the civil, structural, mechanical, C & I and electrical work as well as the supply of proprietary equipment such as the 60t overhead crane, apron feeders, rock breaker, crusher, magnet and dust extraction.
