OVERVIEW
The Somkhele coal field is situated in the northern area of Kwazulu Natal, approximately 25km west of Mtubatuba, Somkhele. Coal will be mined initially by opencast mining methods, which will be delivered to the plant at an average rate of 40 000t/ month or 2000 t/shift, increasing to a possible 80 000t/month double shift operation.
SENET’s scope of work comprises of design, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of a coal washing plant. Coal is sized from 90mm to spiral fines, sorted out into the relative different stockpiles and bins ready for shipment.
SENET have completed the detailed design phase in conjunction with Somkhele Colliery (Tendele Coal Mining (PTY) LTD) representatives. Capital equipment and fabricated components have been delivered to site. Currently the plant is being installed, completion will be during the first quarter of 2007.
