OVERVIEW
The Majuba Coal Terrace Handling System consisted of a system of 28 conveyors and two under silo belt feeders.
The two under silo belt feeders and associated mass flow hoppers withdrew a wide variety of coals from the two 100,000 ton storage silos and conveyed the coal up into the boiler house at the 58m level, where the coal was distributed via a system of conveyors and shuttle conveyors distributing coal into 9 bins (3 per boiler).
Due to the client’s redundancy requirements all conveyors were duplicated and had to cross feed by mean of moving heads and shuttle conveyors. Stringent specifications regarding spillage and blockage in chutes were met, utilizing specialist chute designs and unique liner materials.
