OVERVIEW
The New Impala Flotation Plant was designed to replace the old trough flotation circuit. The new flotation circuit was designed to increase recovery from the feed of the existing 15 mills.
The plant was designed to handle surges up to 2500 tph with nominal operation at 2200 tph.
The scope of work included new pipelines from the existing mills, continuity tanks, surge feed tanks, 18 x 130m flotation tanks, concentrate handling and batch weighing, tailings sampling and disposal.
The installation consisted of all civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation.
The plant was designed to operate continuously at optimum efficiency with bypass facility for maintenance. The plant control system was of a high level to allow automation thereby limiting operator supervision.
